Same Day and Emergency Movers in Pittsburgh

Q: How much notice do you need for a move?

For a planned move, more notice gives you more choice of dates. For a short notice move, call as soon as you know, even if the details are not settled. Our guide on how far in advance to book movers covers the usual timeline.

Q: What counts as an emergency move?

Any move that has to happen sooner than planned. Common reasons are a closing date that moved up, a lease that ends early, a job start, an eviction, a family member who needs help moving out quickly or a deal that fell through and left you with days to find a new place.

Q: How is a last minute move quoted?

The same way as any move: the size of the home, the stairs and walk at each address, the distance, the crew size and whether packing is needed. Our minimum is 3 hours, travel time included, Monday to Saturday. Call with the details and we will give you a quote.

Q: What hours can you move?

We move Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. If your date is fixed, call early in the day so there is more room to fit you into the schedule.

Q: Can you pack for me on short notice?

Yes. Our crew can pack your home with materials included before loading, so you do not have to find boxes and tape in a hurry. Set aside medications, documents, chargers and anything you need that night so they stay with you.

Q: Can you just load my truck or pod today?

If a crew is open, yes. Our loading and unloading help works with a rental truck or a container you already have. You drive the truck, and the crew brings blankets, straps and dollies.

Q: Can you do a short notice long distance move?

Yes, when the schedule allows. We are registered with FMCSA for interstate household goods moves, and one customer had us move him from Morgantown to Terra Alta, West Virginia on less than 3 days notice. See our long distance moving page.

Q: What should I have ready before the crew arrives?

Clear paths, keys and parking at both homes, appliances unhooked and the fridge emptied, and a bag with what you need for the first night. Our list of things people forget when moving helps when you are short on time.

Q: Can you move just a few items on short notice?

Yes. Small jobs often fit into the schedule faster than a whole house. Our furniture movers handle a single couch, a bed or a few pieces, with the same blankets and care.

How a Same Day or Short Notice Move Works

When time is short, a phone call is faster than a form. Here is what happens next.

Call Us: Phone instead of filling out the form, so we can check openings while you are on the line.
Share the Details: Both addresses, the size of the home, the stairs at each end, what needs packing and the date you need.
We Confirm the First Open Crew: We tell you the earliest real opening, Monday through Saturday, and lock in a time.
Move Day: The crew packs first if needed, then loads, drives and unloads into the right rooms.

Why Call 1st Step When You Need Movers Fast

In a rush, the worst answer is a promise nobody keeps. We tell you honestly when a crew can be there, and then we show up when we said we would.

We are licensed by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission as a household goods mover, registered with FMCSA for interstate moves, and fully licensed and insured.
